On behalf of our Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother John Welykochy, we welcome you to the Ionic Lodge web site. Feel free to browse, to find out who we are, and what we do. Following the History links, you will find fascinating tidbits from yesteryear - both about Ionic Lodge and the other six Lodges which form part of it. Did you know that Battle Lodge, formerly based in Battleford, was one of the oldest Masonic Lodges in the Northwest? Was your dad or grandpa a Mason? You might even find a write-up or a picture of him, here.

Brother Chris Hodapp, in Freemasons for Dummies, tells us that when Dan Brown, author of The da Vinci Code and The Lost Symbol, among others, was invited to address the Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction, he was forced by his schedule to decline. Hodapp gives us a copy of Brown's response, from which the following paragraphs are taken:

"In the past few weeks, as you might imagine, I have been repeatedly asked what attracted me to the Masons so strongly as to make it a central point of my book. My reply is always the same: 'In a world where men do battle over whose definition of God is most accurate, I cannot adequately express the deep respect and admiration I feel toward an organization in which men of differing faiths are able to 'break bread together' in a bond of brotherhood, friendship, and camaraderie.'

Please accept my humble thanks for the noble example you set for humankind. It is my sincere hope that the Masonic community recognizes The Lost Symbol for what it truly is - an earnest attempt to reverentially explore the history and beauty of Masonic Philosophy."

You can learn more about Freemasonry - from Hodapp and others - by following our links to other interesting Masonic sites.

We hope that you will enjoy your visit to our site. If you want more information, please email our Worshipful Master or the Secretary.
